Measurements

– 1-inch thick piece fresh horseradish root
– 2 cloves garlic
– 1/2 cup chopped onion
– 2 inches fresh ginger root
– 2 inches fresh turmeric root
– 1 cup apple cider vinegar
– 1 tbsp. raw unpasturized honey

Method:

1. Grate or juice the horseradish, garlic, onion, ginger and turmeric.
2. Fill a litre glass jar with 1 cup apple cider vinegar, and fill the rest with filtered water. Stir in honey.
3. Add in the grated or juiced ingredients from step 1.
4. Shake the closed jar to mix everything together and let it sit in a dark, dry place for 2 weeks. Shake it once per day.
5. After 2 weeks, strain the ingredients if you grated them. If you juiced them, skip this step. Store the finished product in the fridge.

Drink 1-2 ounces 2-3 times per day to maintain good health. If you are not feeling well, drink 1-2 ounces 5-6 times per day. This remedy can help you feel better in under 24 hours.

Coming down with a cold is never fun, regardless of the virus, neither is taking medication. That’s why I compliled a small list of healthier remedies that don’t put so much strain on the body allowing the immune system to heal quicker. 

 

1. Ginger Tea with Honey + Lemon

 

 

This is my favorite remedy, my number 1 remedy. Boil the water with the chopped up ginger pices already in, makes a nice ginger water. You can also add Oregano oil  and Cayenne Pepper to improve this remedy. Ginger contains numerous other anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compounds beneficial to health such as gingerols, beta-carotene, capsaicin, caffeic acid, curcumin and salicylate. The added bonus of honey and lemon both improves the flavor and adds more immune-boosting goodness.

2. Oregano Oil

 

 

This one is different, and not so popular. It’s one worth having around the house. It’s best used as soon as you notice any symptoms to improve your immune system, sometimes, that cold won’t even develop at all. I personally only use it internally when I’m not feeling well, it should be diluted with water or mixed with coconut oil.  The one I use is this Plant Therapy Oregano (Origanum) Essential Oil, but you can also find it at your local health store. The dried herb oregano is typically fine for pregnant women but when using oil of oregano pregnant women should use caution and only use if instructed by a physician to do so.

3. Astragulus

 

 

Astragalus is a Chinese herb that’s been used for centuries to strengthen the body’s internal systems, it specifically can help with colds and upper respiratory infections. 

Astragalus is available in a variety of forms at drugstores and natural food stores, coming in drops, ground into spice, and tablets — be sure to follow the dosage recommended on the bottle. The root (which can be boiled in tea and soup) may also be available in Chinese grocery stores, and might be combined with other plants like ligustrum and ginseng. I suggest taking it with a full glass of water, and drinking increased liquids while using the herb.

How to Crack the Seed

Fragrant, impactful and fiery, ginger includes a unique flavor and pizzazz to Asian-style stir fries and many vegetable and fruit dishes. Crisp ginger root is accessible year round in the produce area of your nearby market. Personally, it’s a favorite, and most used ingredient in my dishes. I also use it in teas, and with my morning juicing. 

 

Natural Remedy 

 

Ginger is a spice that has traditionally been treated as medicine in both Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda, doses of 1-3g can reduce nausea and ease digestion quite effectively; super loading the powdered rhizome (vertical root) at 10-15g daily might increase Testosterone.

Ginger is traditionally known as the stomach ache remedy. It has long been known to help alleviate gastrointestinal distress by helping relax and sooth the GI tract. You may keep fresh ginger, unpeeled in the refrigerator for up to three weeks or in the freezer for up to six months.

 

How to incorporate more ginger into your diet

 

Ginger pairs well with many different types of seafood, oranges, melon, pork, pumpkin and apples. When buying fresh ginger, look for a root with smooth, taut skin (no wrinkles) and a spicy aroma. Store fresh ginger in a tightly wrapped plastic bag in the refrigerator or freezer. Fresh ginger should be peeled and grated before use. In most recipes, one-eighth teaspoon of ground ginger can be substituted for one tablespoon of fresh grated ginger. Ground ginger can be found in the herbs and spices section of most grocery stores.

It’s this fiber that allows your bowels to move along and at the same time gives bulk to bowel movements. So if you’re having a problem with either of these conditions, dates are an effective way to either get things moving or to add mass.

 

High in iron

Dates already offer so much, but they are also high in iron. Offering 0.9 milligrams of iron per 100 grams, which is 11 percent of the recommended daily intake. So if you suffer from anemia or are low in iron, eating a few dates is a great way to help you get back up to normal levels.
